I got to admit i’ve been hiding a huge deal of myself for quite a time, and iti’s exactly easy to suddenly keep quiet about things, and so to face off with everything, a new blog entry should do the trick. As this year opens, new things await, new beginnings, new whatever, just as long as the word NEW is present. Strangely enough my fate’s version of having something new is a ticket to New York, it would sound nice to leave it all behind and just start from scratch, but anyway we’ll see where this thing will take me. The first day of this New Year turned out well, with the help of the small preparations i did, say accidentally cutting my groin? In any case, aside from all the scratches and bruises i had becuase of certain activities i joined all is well, not bad for New Year’s preparation.

The New Year’s family lunch

Okay so, all the dishes were present, the fish, rice cakes, fruits, etc etc…oh my the fish can seriously kill a thousand patients with renal failure, it was so “maalat” i nearly blew my head off trying to stomach the taste, funny thing was Mama did not use any condiments that would most likely contribute to the thing, but anyway, it’s still is one of the main dishes. The “Tikoy” was good, and i think i may have found the secret to make it taste even better, after a couple or more bites, yeah i think i did, and i think it tastes better if somebody else gave it to you instead of buying it for yourself, which is eexactly what happened awhile ago. Now i don’t know about other Filipino-Chinese Family here, but for some reason Mama served Mangoes i think, it was more of a craving than a part of the whole Chinese New Year dish thing, anyway, there was “lomein” too, the longer the better right?, and whole bunch of things i got sick of eating.

Angpao

The thing i missed, the Angpao giving, now what the heck, how on earth am i going to resolve this? The kids would have to wait, i still have to figure out where to find decent angpao’s, and to make it more complex, how much money am i going to put inside it…

The Check Up

After having gone through all the trouble last year, well techinically this year, but last year due to this New Year, i’m still officially ill, those 94K’s won’t do me any good, but hey as long as i’m not bleeding from it all i don’t mind. The Doctor keeps on insisting i should go back to taking steriods again, i mean sure to gain the complexion, the body, through a very risky but easy way, why not? I’m just worried about the pimple part that’s going to be hard to deal with if ever. In any case i still have 10 more freakin’ days to go.

Summary

To sum it all up , it was a not so bad start of the year, i mean the race officially began, and i’m still just taking my time trying to figure out a strategy, for now, i’ll go wherever my feet take me.

Between the Head Tsiu and Me

Over at dinner, Dad and I and Mama, had this discussion about the very controversial family tree that Anko, the former Head of the Tsiu family, created. It was then when everything about our big family was clarified. Anko was the middle child and the only son of the former Tsiu, which was my great grandfather, and that’s just here in the Philippines, but in Singapore, that’s already a different story, and i’m going to research on that with all my available resources and write it all down so it won’t go out of history just like that. So going back, My Anko had two sisters, the eldest, of whom was purely raised in Singapore, and i think somewhere our supposed Chinese culture is well defined. Ama Helen’s family, my Anko’s Achi, never knew that we were family too, at least not until she died. Anyway, truth be told, everything went well after her death and the revelation was fully accepted by her family, thus the supposed strong family ties should’ve been formed. So officially we, of the Tsiu family, is related by blood to the now Young family, because Ama Helen married a pure Chinese guy connected to the Young’s thus her children, my Dad’s cousins, are all Young’s now instead of Tsiu. All in all my Dad has four cousins from Ama Helen, which makes it two 3 uncles, and i think 2 aunts for me. I haven’t seen them for a very long time now, and i’m afraid that they might forget, so i’m taking all the best efforts to refresh that family bond and hopefully save what’s left of it.

Okay okay, I already contacted my cousin Jason, and hopefully he will reply as soon as he can, Dad never knew the real name of his Anko, which was my great grandfather, so i’m hoping Jason knows since he was close to Ama Helen, who was solely raised by my great Anko. I must say, i’m a little bit disappointed with Dad since he let every moment pass for us to mingle with the Youngs again. Anyway, since i think i’m the only one who cares about it, and my cousin Jason, i think it’s about time to make both ends meet again. Tito Tammiboy, my Dad’s cousin, Ama Helen’s son, a Young, is upset of Dad for not going to my cousin Mark’s wedding, which i think became the match to trigger a, well, a not so good family connection. I think it’s a simple “tampo” but seriously, this thing that i’m going to do has to work, atleast for the sake of our family.

The Tsiu Family Tree

So i guess, the missing pieces of our family tree are slowly begining to show some light, i just hope that with the spirit of Anko Manuel, i’ll be guided. Strangely enough, i think that this is going to be a start of one heck of a journey for me, but with my resources i think i need to start with the most of the basics, before i get myself into a big pool of puzzles. For now, i think i’ll have to settle with the “unnamed” Chinese relatives we have over at Laurel St., in Quezon City.

The Calling

It’s been such a long time that this thign is calling out to me, not that i’m so frustrated to know things in my family but the eagerness and the contentment i’d feel to know and not wonder would be one of the greatest things that could ever really happen to me and the rest of the family, or atleast ot anybody concerned.
